GERMAN PIANOS
Once upon a time you could guarantee that a German made piano was going to be a quality piano. However, today pianos made in Germany are not really made in Germany at all. The term made in Germany now has a very different meaning. It is said that most of the German piano manufactures import their pianos 90% built (in China) and then build the last 10%. At this point they feel that by adding the last 10%, it is ” A Piano Made In Germany”.
GERMAN PIANO MAKERS
To counteract the Made In Germany (Pianos) they have launched the BVK initiative.

BUNDESVERBAND KLAVIER E.V.
100% “Made in Germany” or guaranteed by certification from the German Piano Association (BVK).

In order to increase market transparency for buyers of grand and upright pianos, the BVK has introduced strict guidelines according to which members can certify their instruments. According to the guidelines, only brands from manufacturers that are 100% made in Germany are certified.

With successful certification, the manufacturer is entitled to provide the instruments manufactured under the certified brand with the BVK logo “Made in Germany” and to advertise them with the certificate.(s)
